Backdated to 2020 because it looked weird in 2026 xD
Back in 2020 a few of us got together for the GMTK Game Jam and made Welcome to Control. You play an alien stationed at Control base, and the generator is broken. You have to find six gears and get them installed before the battery power runs out.
Getting around is the fun part. You travel by hovercraft, but each thruster has to be switched on by hand, and each one pulls from its own battery. That means you're always scavenging for replacements and deciding which thrusters you can afford to run.
There were six of us on this one: Dan Alexander and Joel Shafer on programming, Omni Jacala, Andrew Coleman, and Sean Hicks on the 3D art, environments, animation, and characters, and me on design and programming. The artists built an entire explorable world in a jam weekend, and I'm still a little amazed by that.
Fair warning that it's a jam game and it shows. There's a bug where the win condition doesn't trigger after you collect all six gears, so please just pretend it does. We also ran out of time before we could add any audio, sorry about that!
If you'd like to give it a try, it's a free for Windows on itch.io. Let us know what you think!
